Hunter S. Thompson was born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 18, 1937. Who knew that the young trouble-making prankster of town would become one of the most controversial authors in writing history? Credited as "The Father of 'Gonzo Journalism'", he became so dedicated to his reports that he would put himself into countless controversial situations, interacting with the same people he was reporting, just so he could get a more in-depth analysis of the event. Essentially, he became one of the crucial figures in each one of his own articles.

Aside from seeming to have a couple of screws loose in his mind, Hunter S. Thompson was one of the greatest writers to live. He created a new kind of Journalism which eventually spread into hundreds of followers, and still remains with reporters and authors today. He inspired me to write because of his cutthroat mindset. He put his heart and soul into what he wrote and wanted nothing but the absolute best for his pieces, and didn't listen to what critics said because he believed in what he wrote and saw it as the best work he's ever done. He taught many, including myself, to write what I want, unafraid of the potential consquences.
